Office cleaning checklist you can print and adapt
This list is a starting point for a typical office, grouped by how often each task usually comes up. A1 builds the written checklist for each client from a walkthrough of the actual space, so expect yours to look different.
Every visit
- Empty trash and recycling bins and replace liners
- Wipe desks, tables and shared work surfaces that are clear
- Clean and disinfect toilets, urinals and sinks
- Refill soap, paper towels and toilet paper
- Wipe kitchen counters, sinks and the fronts of appliances
- Wipe door handles, light switches and elevator buttons
- Vacuum carpeted walkways and open areas
- Sweep and damp mop hard floors
- Spot clean entry glass and interior glass doors
- Check that doors are locked and lights are off when leaving
Weekly
- Vacuum under desks and along baseboards
- Dust window sills, ledges and picture frames within reach
- Clean the inside of the microwave
- Wipe down chair arms and conference room chairs
- Wipe restroom partitions and walls around fixtures
- Clean phone handsets and shared keyboards if requested
- Wipe trash and recycling containers inside and out
- Polish stainless steel surfaces in kitchens and lobbies
Monthly
- Dust air vents and return grilles within reach
- Wipe baseboards and door frames
- Clean the inside of the refrigerator on an agreed day
- Dust blinds and high ledges
- Detail clean restroom grout lines and corners
- Vacuum upholstered furniture
- Wipe interior partitions and cubicle walls
- Clean light fixtures and covers within reach
Quarterly
- Deep clean or extract carpets in high-traffic areas
- Scrub and refinish or burnish hard floors as needed
- Wash interior windows and glass partitions fully
- Clean behind and under movable furniture
- Dust high areas such as tops of cabinets and shelving
- Wash walls in kitchens and break rooms
- Review the checklist with the office contact and update it
- Inspect entry mats and arrange replacement if worn
