Checklists

Post-construction cleaning checklist by phase

Construction dust settles in waves, so this list is split into the passes most build-outs need before move-in. A1 sets the actual scope for each project after walking the finished space and noting its surfaces.

Rough clean (after major work ends)

  • Remove loose debris, packaging and scrap left after trades leave
  • Sweep and vacuum all floors to lift heavy dust
  • Vacuum window tracks, sills and door thresholds
  • Wipe down walls and ledges to remove surface dust
  • Remove stickers and labels from windows and fixtures
  • Clean out cabinets, drawers and closets
  • Vacuum vent covers and return grilles
  • Bag and stage cleaning waste in the agreed area

Final clean (before move-in)

  • Dust all horizontal surfaces from high to low
  • Clean light fixtures, switch plates and outlet covers
  • Wash interior glass, mirrors and partitions
  • Clean doors, frames and hardware
  • Clean and polish restroom fixtures, sinks and counters
  • Wipe kitchen cabinets inside and out and clean appliances
  • Wipe baseboards and trim
  • Vacuum carpets thoroughly and mop hard floors
  • Clean stairwells, railings and elevator interiors in the work area
  • Remove paint spots and residue from hard surfaces where safe

Touch-up (after furniture and final trades)

  • Dust furniture, shelving and workstations after delivery
  • Spot clean walls and doors marked during move-in
  • Vacuum and mop again where furniture was moved
  • Clean entry glass and lobby surfaces
  • Restock restrooms and kitchens if supplies are provided
  • Remove any remaining packaging and protective film
  • Walk the space with the project contact and note misses
  • Finish the punch list before the first day of occupancy

Confirm with the project contact which areas are ready for cleaning and which trades are still working before each pass.
